There's nothing worse than getting a stain on your favorite top or jeans, and thinking that you won't ever get to wear that item of clothing again. Don't throw out your clothes just yet, you can remove just about any stain from your clothing if you have the right cleaning product and technique. See below for tips on how to remove a number of different stains from your clothing.

Coffee, Tea or Soda

Soak the stained area in vinegar, or create a paste using baking soda and water. Allow the stain to soak in either mixture for 10 minutes, then rinse the garment. If the stain is still present, repeat and leave the mixture on for 20 minutes. Wash your piece of clothing as usual once the stain is removed.

Food

Food stains can happen to just about anyone. Remove these stains from your clothing using a mixture of dish washing liquid and water. Leave the mixture on your clothing for about 20 minutes before rinsing clean. Dish washing liquid that has a degreasing agent in it is a better option, especially if the food was greasy.

Ink

Ink stains can be removed in a few different ways. Try using a dish detergent/water mixture, leave it on the stain for 20 minutes and rinse clean. You can also use hairspray on the stain, then rinse. Another way to remove the stain is to rub it with nail polish remover and rinse with clean water. Nail polish remove may harm your clothing, so test it in a small area first before using it.

Blood, Urine or Feces

These stains can show up a lot in your wash, especially if you have little ones. Soak the stained clothing in cold water, then toss it in the wash using 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide. It should remove the stain completely. If not, check the garment before tossing it in the dryer, then repeat the process.

Grass

Remove grass stains from the knees of jeans or from your child's baseball uniform by soaking it in a mixture of 1 part water and 2 parts hydrogen peroxide. Give the stain a light scrubbing with a soft bristle brush. Then rinse the mixture from the garment and wash as usual.

Stains happen to just about anyone, dab at the spot to remove the soiled area, without rubbing it too much. Then use the tips above to help prevent the stain from ruining your garment. For assistance, talk to a professional like Indian Village Laundromat.
